I did a bit of research into these and they are very capable, but not as well-known as the ubiquitous postwar Myford ML7 and Super7 lathes, for which there are a great many spares and accessories available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"http:\/\/classicbikenut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019-01-01-15.18.56.mov\"><\/video><figcaption>Drive for the leadscrew engaged (the front oiler cap is open)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"http:\/\/classicbikenut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019-01-01-15.19.22.mov\"><\/video><figcaption>Nice and smooth and quiet, too!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For one of these, it is necessary to keep an eye out for second-hand parts and accessories, but they are still about, if not in the abundance of the later stuff &#8211; and for much more amenable prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I worked out the back-gear arrangement (giving it six-speeds) and it is a great little lathe with thread-cutting capability, including left-hand threads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/classicbikenut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019-01-01-15.24.13-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-883\" srcset=\"https:\/\/classicbikenut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019-01-01-15.24.13-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/classicbikenut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019-01-01-15.24.13-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/classicbikenut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019-01-01-15.24.13-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It also came with the original face-plate and catch-plate and a spare saddle faceplate, some very effective wick-oilers for the main bearings, and added improvements to the tailstock-wheel and a handle on the traverse (very handy, if you can&#8217;t get used to the &#8216;reversed&#8217;
